'Ennum Ezhuthum' is a campaign launched during the summer holidays of every year (during May – June) in Tamilnadu to ensure every child will learn to read and write Tamil sentences and solve 2 digit addition and subtraction problems. This year, the campaign is launched in 10,000 villages in various districts in Tamilnadu.
AID INDIA is a non-profit organization,
founded in 1996, by a group of IIT and BITS alumni who quit corporate
careers to work on various development initiatives. AID INDIA’s
education initiative 'Eureka Child', where 'Eureka' represents
the spirit of discovery, focuses primarily on education quality
improvement programs in Tamilnadu.
Swetha is in class 8, studying in a govt school of a village in
Tamilnadu. Swetha, her mother and two younger sisters were abandoned
by her father 5 years back. Poverty made Swetha’s mother to work
as a house maid at a distance city from their village. They reside with their grandmother, who is supportive to her daughter and grand children in spite of her old age.
