As many of you already know, extremely severe cyclonic storm Fani hit the Odhisha coast in the first week of May, and has caused massive damage to Odhisha, and parts of West Bengal and Andhra Pradesh. Fani was comparable in magnitude to a Category 4 hurricane, and as such, posed a grave threat to the local population. While the timely evacuation in Odhisha saved many, at least 38 lives have been lost in Odhisha alone. There has been a tremendous impact on the infrastructure of Odhisha, and many villages are still cut off from food and water supply, electricity and basic communication facilities. It is likely that the number of casualties and the cost of infrastructure damage will increase further.
We urge you to stand by the affected people in these testing times and extending any possible help.
